It is beyond question that our B’Town celebs are scrutinized for every move they make. Each controversy they get into attracts the paparazzi. There have been numerous instances of our B’Town celebs getting entangled in legal cases over the years.
We present you with a handful of them here:
- Twinkle Khanna
Let’s start with a funny one! Actress turned writer Twinkle Khanna a.k.a Mrs Funnybones was arrested on charges of obscenity when she unbuttoned her husband’s denims as part of a fashion show. A social worker even went to the extent of alleging that husband and wife behaved in an obscene manner and that action has to be initiated against them.
Had it not been for Twinkle, some other woman would have done the same to Akshay’s denims as part of the ramp show. Akshay apparently insisted that the woman be his wife. Imagine a legal case being slapped at you for being a faithful husband. Meh!
- Shah Rukh Khan
The badshaah wasn’t immune to legal issues as well. He got entangled in a number of issues ranging from smoking in a public place to an alleged drunken brawl. He got into trouble for smoking at a Jaipur stadium in 2012 and the same year, he was accused of creating a drunken ruckus at Wankhede stadium following which he was banned from the stadium for 5 years. He was awarded a clean chit in 2016. Come 2017, the Kota GRP accused Shah Rukh Khan of creating a “stampede-like situation” during the promotions of his film Raees.
- Fardeen Khan
This man’s career was not be anything close to phenomenal but he did grab headlines when he was caught with cocaine way back in 2001. He was caught with an amount which can only be attributed to personal consumption. He was let go with addiction treatment because first time offenders caught under Section 27 can gain immunity from prosecution under Section 64A of the NDPS Act.
- Salman Khan
Controversy’s favourite child, oops, man, Salman Khan has been embroiled in one controversy after the other. Way back in 2002, he was booked under culpable homicide when his car slammed into a pavement dweller, killing him. Another case in his kitty is the infamous black buck case. Once upon a time in 1998, while shooting for Hum Sath Sath Hai, Salman apparently shot an endangered species of antelopes. He did spend a week in Jodhpur jail before the court granted him bail. Fast forward 2017, the black buck is ruled to have died of natural causes.
- Sanjay Dutt
The man whose tryst with laws began as early as the 1990s is here. He was sentenced to five years in prison due to his involvement in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts. Following arrest in 1994, he confessed that Abu Salem and some other close associates did visit him. He also said that they did bring AK 56 rifles and he had kept one. He later retracted the statement, though. He was arrested and charged under the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act on grounds of conspiring in the blasts and possession of weapons.
While they are definitely not the only ones on the list, here’s asking you to stay tuned for the next list!
